No-code platforms

We've made a small selection of the many available no-code tools for process automation and workflow management, based on enterprise-readiness.

What we see is that platforms that cater well for citizen developers and have enough integration capabilities are adding the most value for larger organisations. Because these platforms empower both technical and non-technical employees.

Professional developers use no-code to speed up the process, citizen developers use it because they can solve their challenges without bothering IT.

AppSheet

(By Google)
True no-code platform that allows you to build mobile and web apps. Easily adopted by non-technical employees.

As is true of most no-code and low-code app builders, citizen developers use AppSheet because it is easy, and professional developers use it because they can create apps quickly.

AppSheet allows you to create a single app that can be used on a laptop, mobile device, or tablet.

For field workers and industrial environments it's especially useful that you can connect to several data sources and incorporate data from end-user devices, such as GPS coordinates, photographs, drawings, barcode scanning, and character recognition.

It supports the multi-platform design, allowing users to build apps for iOS and Android devices, as well as the web. You can also use it to develop offline-capable apps that’ll work without an internet connection.

PowerApps

(By Microsoft)
Powerful no-code / low-code framework for Microsoft environments.

Much more than a no-code builder, Power Apps lets you add functionality with Excel-like formulas, easily connects to external data sources, and integrates with Power Automate for flow editing and Power BI for data analysis.

Typically you start building Power Apps from the Power Apps Home page, then develop them further from the Power Apps Studio page. You should be able to view apps on your Windows, iOS, and Android devices using the Microsoft Power Apps Mobile app, which you can download from the appropriate app store. If you have administrative rights, you can manage your organization’s environments, data connections, roles, and policies from the administration center page.

It allows you to add functionality with Power Fx code snippets. Power Apps additionally integrates with Power Automate for flow editing and Power BI for analytic tiles, and has connectors to over 275 data sources.

Airtable

(By Airtable)
Easy to learn combination of spreadsheet and relational database for office environments.

Airtable is a powerful combination of relational database capabilities, a variety of development environments for different skill levels, and hundreds of templates and add-ins for common use cases.

Its Interface Designer lets teams build visual, interactive interfaces using the data already in their bases. By creating custom interfaces for your teammates, you can display the information that’s critical to them and avoid distracting details.

Airtable has several development environments at a variety of skill levels ranging from non-programmers to power users to JavaScript programmers.

As a database-oriented, low-code/no-code development environment in the cloud, Airtable competes with many of the roughly 400 low-code/no-code app builders on the market. Airtable doesn’t really compete with the basic cloud spreadsheets such as Google Sheets.

AppGyver

(By SAP)
Professional no-code app development platform with a steeper learning curve,  powerful once you master it.

The SAP AppGyver tool provides a professional, no-code application development environment designed for anyone to quickly develop apps with drag-and-drop capabilities, regardless of role and skill level.

SAP AppGyver features - Eliminate coding effort to increase development efficiency by building apps visually for Web, iOS, and Android.

Ultimately SAP AppGyver provides drag-and-drop capabilities for business developers to build enterprise-grade applications confidently without the need to write a single line of code. It also enables professional developers to build software faster and be more productive.

Users can create front-end apps with custom functionality, standalone apps, and line-of-business (LoB) side-by-side extensions. SAP AppGyver can be integrated with other SAP solutions through REST APIs and OData.

Honeycode

(By Amazon)

No-code app builder for making simple apps and integrations. Creating more powerful ones will require help from a programmer.

Amazon Honeycode is a spreadsheet-oriented, no-code development platform that builds mobile web and web apps. The spreadsheet includes both data and formulae, and has some of the functionality of a database table. For building an app from the spreadsheet, Honeycode has a palette of user interface objects such as lists, input fields, and buttons. It also has a palette of events and actions.

You can either start with a blank canvas or choose from one of the many built-in templates. You can also build model-driven apps that use the Common Data Service’s capabilities to quickly define forms, business rules, and processes.

Not everyone can use Honeycode. Power users, the folks who write Excel macros for their peers to use, probably can. Most ordinary users probably can’t, because they simply don’t know how to think in terms of development or databases or user interfaces. Casting development as a drag and drop exercise might make the individual steps more palatable to a non-programmer than writing code, but ultimately it doesn’t lead them to a useful overall design.
